The Simple Woman's Daybook (April 20th edition)

For Today...

Outside my window...the snow is all gone and has left behind lots of sand all over the streets, yards and sidewalks. Time to get those street sweepers going. Haven't seen one yet but hope to soon.

I am thinking...I need to go to the bank and cash our income tax returns and pay off some bills.

I am thankful for...the flood waters going down and no more adjustments to the flood forecast

From the kitchen...Shrimp Taco Dip that I'm making for home group tomorrow as well as some Sesame Street and Winnie the Pooh character shaped Jello jigglers for the kids.

I am wearing... black jeans, a pink hooded top with faux white camisole attached.

I am reading...The Bible, I've never read the entire book but I think I've finally found a plan for reading the Bible in 1 year that works for me.

I am hoping...every time I get the mail out of my mailbox there will be a letter or card (ie "real mail") addressed to me.

I am creating...a busy and exciting calendar for the next couple of months.

I am praying...for God's wisdom and he will help me to parent my children.

Around the house...I started putting away winter boots, scarves, hats, and mitts a week ago, now to finish washing and putting away the rest of the winter clothes and getting out the spring shoes & clothing.

One of my favorite things...watching the new growth emerge from the ground that has been long since hibernating for the past season.

A few plans for the rest of the week... life-group, YWCA swim lessons, taking my daughter to watch the Western Rhythmic Gymnastic Meet at the university, and working night shifts this weekend.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

The Simple woman's Daybook ~ March 2, 2009

For Today...

Outside my window... SNOW!..but the sun is shining! Today when I was listening to the weather we had a "Windchill factor" as well as a"Humidex factor"!?!

I am thinking... it will be nice to have my son's birthday somewhere that I don't have to plan , prepare and clean-up as much as I usually do. We are going to see the movie "Monster vs Aliens" and have a popcorn party, all I have to bring is the cake.

I am thankful for... my husband.

From the kitchen... our fridge and cupboards are fuller of healthy food inc. fruits and vegetables since DH has been trying to lose weight and decrease his blood pressure

I am wearing... my favorite work uniform...FROGS of course! :) Green pants with a purple top that has big frogs sitting (green) and little frogs hopping (yellow) as well as the words "Ribbit!" in white.

I am reading... Date Night In A Minivan.

I am hoping... to participate in the Blog Party this year at 5 Minutes For Moms

I am creating... this blog post, hoping to finish it before it's time to go home

I am hearing... the late News. Everyone here at work is sleeping and soon I will get to then too.

Around the house... snow everywhere. I'm looking forward to when I can look around my house and see green shoots sprouting out of the ground (ie flowers). Perhaps then also inside my house won't be quite the war zone since the kids can go outside and play more often.

One of my favorite things... ice-cream...especially Dairy Queen blizzards, our local Dairy Queen has been open for a month sow and I still haven't gone yet this year...maybe DH, the kids and I should do that later this week... :)

A few plans for the rest of the week... I'm looking forward to having three days off at home in a row. Never have I so looked forward to doing housework!

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

One Tree Hill, one of my favorite places during my trip to New Zealand. It is a park on an extinct volcano...a piece of paradise in the middle of a bustling city. Look at all that green grass...*sigh*...I know underneath all this snow we have some grass somewhere.

The Simple Woman's Daybook ~ February 23rd Edition

I keep saying that I need to keep a daily journal and when I saw this I thought it was a great way to blog and keep things recorded. So I'm going to give it a go.

For Today...
I am going...back to work now as my 45 minute break is over.
Outside my window...
well I'm at work and I'm on my break so as I look out the cafeteria window into the courtyard I see the large Christmas light displays (ie reindeer, snowman, Santa & elves, Christmas trees, teddy bear) lit up against the black night.

I am thinking... about all the things that I need to finish before the end of the shift and what what I am going to get accomplished tomorrow and this week.

I am thankful for... so many things but I guess the thing that is coming to my mind first right now is I'm thankful that my husband was able to catch his high blood pressure and get it treated before a major catastrophe (...considering his family history and all)

From the kitchen... we have lots of leftovers in the fridge for the next day or so - lots of veggies for salads and chicken & shrimp chow mien that I made for supper last night.

I am wearing... my nursing uniform - wine colored pants and a top with red and pink hearts with various nurses and the words "Nurse Power" as well as white socks and white shoes.

I am creating... memories daily with my kids

I am reading... right now- I'm reading THIS as I type; also I'm reading the Bible hoping to read through it this year, a book called "Date Night In A Minivan" and a book by James Dobson called "The Strong-Willed Child".

I am hoping... that my husband's 3rd dr appt in 5 days goes well tomorrow.

I am hearing... not alot considering that it is 3:20 am. The hum of the lights & vending machines as well as the keys clacking on the keyboard as I peck away.

Around the house... I need to clean up as it is starting to look like a war zone.

One of my favorite things... scrapbooking (when I get time), also I enjoy visiting with friends and spending time with my wonderful husband and three children

A few plans for the rest of the week...
not as exciting as the last few weeks were I've gone glow bowling with my mom, husband & kids; gone to the monster truck show and recently gone to Disney on Ice with the kids. This week my husband has booked off work so I'll enjoy spending time with him while the kids are at school. On Friday I'm attending a computer training inservice at work. and then more night shifts this coming weekend.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...
This is the frog my husband got me for Valentine's Day and the flowers my kids got me. :)
