A Halloween-Loving Christian?

I found this article last year and never did get around to posting it. I, myself, wouldn't say that Halloween is anywhere near my favorite holiday however my kids enjoy it and therefore I also participate in the fun of the evening. Such as dressing up, getting & receiving candy and playing a variety of games. We do not participate in the scary, gory or violent aspects of the day. I have talked with several people (many of them christians) and they all have different feelings toward Halloween. I understand where many come from that are against it but I have never been convicted for recognizing the holiday. I just wanted to share this article as it says much of how I feel but in better writing style than I could do.

At the end are many comments, some agreeing and some against. What are you feelings toward Halloween?

Well, you already know how I feel. I would encourage you, as one of the commentors on the article did, to read the Scriptures again - things like abstain from the appearance of evil, of not taking part in the rituals and feasts of the pagans, etc...I would ask - not just you but everyone...Have you PRAYED about it? I mean really set some time aside to seek the Lord on it. In the end, it is YOUR responsibility what you do, and I can only encourage you to do the right thing. We may still disagree with what the right thing is. However, contrary to what some commentors said, we ARE called to judge and hold each other accountable as Christians - and though some don't believe this can affect your salvation - it may well affect our children's. I'm not willing to risk that.

P.S. I still don't think it's hypocritical to celebrate Christmas, and not Halloween - but I'm also still researching it and praying about it.
